Apple releases
iOS 7 update for iPads and iPhones
Apple developed and presented its newest mobile
operating system update on Monday, iOS 7.1. The main upgrade packs in a variety
of new features, improvements, bug fixes and some pleasant general changes to
the existing interface.
iOS 7.1 is considered the 1st groundbreaking
update to the iPod Touch, iPad and iPhone operating system since iOS 7 was presented
in September 2013.
There are some expected repairs in 7.1. First and
foremost, the accuracy of the fingerprint sensor on iPhone 5S is improved. At
the second, there are general performance improvements for iPhone 4 devices for
those iPhone 4 owners who complained of speed and other problems after
upgrading to iOS 7.0. The update also repairs a bug which can occasionally
cause a home screen crash.
Other upgrade option includes an additional method of
Siri activation. Now you can just hold down the Home button and start speaking,
letting go when you are done giving the directions. With previous version, you had
to wait for Siri to detect by itself when you are done speaking. Moreover,
female and male Siri voices are updated and now sound more natural and likable
in Mandarin, Japanese, Australian and UK English.
For iPhone photographers, there also are some fine
improvements: now they must not manually toggle on HDR. The camera on the
iPhone 5S automatically detects scenes which it thinks can benefit from
high-dynamic range and turn it on.
Minor improvements are suggested for iTunes Radio, FaceTime
and the Calendar App. There are some accessibility tweaks meant for making the operating
system work better for the visually impaired.
The outstanding new feature in iOS 7.1 is CarPlay. It
is a tool, which lets you transfer some of the most basic functions on your
iPhone to your car’s dashboard. Apple announced details about CarPlay last
week. The features include such IOS
system tools as iTunes, Siri, Maps and Messages.
However, this CarPlay feature is part of a new
partnership with several famous car companies, such as Ferrari, Mercedes-Benz, Volvo,
Hyundai and Honda. So it is available for several new vehicles for now.
In order to get the free update on your Apple device, you
should be connected to a Wi-Fi network. If you are already connected, go to
Settings - General -Software Update, and then click Download button and
Install. You can also download it through iTunes.
